Mohs lab setup
Bringing Mohs in-house, adding a second lab, or fixing one that never quite worked? Mohs Pros helps practices set up a Mohs lab that runs the way a Mohs day actually runs.
What a Mohs lab needs
A Mohs lab is the small histology lab next to your procedure rooms, where frozen sections are prepared during surgery. Setting one up means planning the room and workflow, choosing equipment such as a cryostat and staining setup, writing procedures, getting CLIA certification, and having a trained tech at the bench.
What we help with
- Room and workflow: how specimens move from the procedure room to the bench to the microscope
- Equipment and supplies: what the lab needs, such as cryostat, staining setup and consumables
- Written procedures: the procedures and logs a Mohs lab runs on
- People: a trained Mohs Pros tech at the bench when you open, if you want one
Lab setup goes hand in hand with CLIA compliance support and trained Mohs techs. Ask for any combination.
Tell us where you're starting from
In your request, choose "We're starting a new Mohs lab" and tell us what you already have: a room, equipment, a surgeon's schedule, a target opening date. A Mohs Pros team member will follow up and quote for your project.
Questions
- Can Mohs Pros also staff the lab once it is set up?
- Yes. Lab setup is often combined with a Mohs Pros tech, so the person who helped plan the bench works at it. Tick both in your request.
- Do we also need a CLIA certificate?
- A Mohs lab tests patient tissue, so it needs CLIA certification. Mohs Pros can help with that work too; see CLIA compliance support.
